house in san francisco. more than 100 firefighters were called to the home on baker street. jean ellie is on the scene. what can you tell us? >> i can tell you that firefighters say this was not an easy fire to fight. they pulled up here and saw smoke and flames pouring out of the back of 618 baker street. that is a four story burgundy victorian that you see. it was not easy to get a hose up to the third floor where the fire started. crews worked on getting them to the fire. they were apparently trying to get out but didn't make it out on their even. firefighters say they were both taken away by ambulance with burns. neighbors say they did not hear an explosion, they did see flames and smoke pouring out of the back of the house. the men who were injured spent the last several years restoring the old victorian. >> christmas very sad. very beautiful house, the couple here that lives here, a lot of work and a lot of time. and a lot of love into that house. it's really sad to see this happen, i hope they're okay the fire went to three alarms, 115 firefighters were here shortly after

july 15th as well. this is rain gardens and ultimate irrigation. baker beach project is kind of a neat one too. this is talking about all camino del mar. that water runs fast from the golf course to the street and causes challenges in the system. we have an ex- cess of volumes. it goes to baker beach. we are looking to manage that storm water better and we'll be looking to establishing rain gardens along the golf course and looking at putting a green street permeable pavement at the end of 25th and this is cul-de-sac area from baker beach. we are going to be having some very interesting and at the residents homes. residents are concerned that water when collected, the water can enter their homes. the residents have proposed supporting us and possibly taking some leadership to work with national parks.dgnra to work with rain gardens a little further back. we are starting discussions with dgnra to see if this is possible. this is retention, permeable paving, about $7 million. our public awareness campaign, everybody has been on the bus, behind the bus and it's been in incredibly successf

after a house went up in flames. more than 100 firefighters were called to the home on baker street last night. it's next to golden gate park. firefighters say it appears it started on the third floor of the home. while crews worked to put out the flames they found two older men in the house by the front door. officials say the men who were apparently trying to get out of the home were badly burned and rushed to the hospital. neighbors say the victims had spent several years restoring the home. >> christmas, very sad. very beautiful house. this couple here that lived here put a lot of work and time and love into that house. it's really sad to see this happen. i hope they are okay. >> the cause is under investigation. >> >> police in newark are asking for the public's help finding the person who broke into a family's home and stole the presents from under the tree. it happened at a house on cherry street not far from newark junior high school. the family didn't realize the gifts were gone until the children woke up and rushed to the tree. detectives believe that the robbery may be re

and interview the baker here at eric kayser, and find out the secrets of making a great french croissant. and i'm here with alexander and sebastian. sebastian is the master baker here. so i was interested in the number of turns, because that's thhard part for home cooks, especially in the united states. so how many turns, how many layers, do you get in a croissant at eric kayser? >> so, in all, it's 32 layers. it's done twice. it's done first with a sheet of dough that is flattened. we put butter on top, put the dough on top of that, flatten that, put the butter again, and that process is repeated. it's done in two different levels and it's a total of 32 layers of dough. after lamination, the dough is cut. we put it in triangular pieces for the rolling. each triangle is stretched and rolled. >> so this is the object of my desire, which is the croissant, the point of all this. let's just actually take a little look inside. it's very flaky on the outside, it's buttery-- it's not greasy, though-- and it's nice and soft on the inside, which is what you want. mmm. i don't think you

continuing the evolutionary process, we had originally eliminated the stop at baker and mcallister and talking to the business interest and muni operators, we implemented that stop and it's back up and running. on the parking side, as i mentioned there are parking trade-offs with the 5l. we were sensitive to that. we had a lane-widening from stanyan, to central where we took 9' lanes and converted as a way to basically improve safety for everybody on the corridor. buses can't fit in 9' lanes so we're trying to improve the safety there. and basically community feedback on parking and other issues we expanded that lane widening two blocks to the east, central to baker and allowed 20 additional parking stalls to be installed in that two-block segment. so to-date, so far, the 5l is get something pretty good reviews. riders seemed pleased with the process and the end product. we're excited to roll this process out for other lines in the tep as we continue to push for better service and involve the community. the 5l wouldn't have been the success it is had we not gotten some great feedba
